How Yoga and Meditation help to develop #mindstrength.
A person who is emotionally strong doesn't let their feelings and emotions take over their thoughts and actions during a time where they could be struggling or stressed out...
Another type of mind strength is being #resilient, able to bounce back from challenges and not let them bring you down or take over your mind or your life.
Being resilient doesn't mean you don't feel anything, it just means that, with practice, you can step back and see a situation clearly to adapt your response or work your way through it.
Keeping your brain and mental health in good condition is just as important as physical fitness and shouldn't be neglected. Mental fitness is important to maintaining brain and body health, especially as you age. There are many types of mental health practices and exercises you can engage in; active ones like learning a new song, playing a game or doing a crossword, and more restful ones like yoga, meditation and visualisation.
Affirmations and kind self talk are also important. How comfortable are you in giving yourself a compliment? Can you look at yourself in a mirror and say something nice to yourself? Also, how do you speak to yourself in your mind? Is it with kindness, as you would to someone you love? Or is it with judgement?
#Meditation and yoga help to develop mind strength, encouraging a heightened state of #self-awareness, and a healthy sense of perspective. And we already know that physical activity increases the flow of oxygen to your brain and the amount of endorphins (feel-good chemicals) in your brain, so people who who exercise regularly also tend to enjoy a higher level of mental health.
As a holistic discipline, yoga focuses on the body, mind and breath. Moving mindfully and responding purposefully while connecting with the breath is where self awareness and learning begins. It's like a workout for your whole system.
Learning to calm the mind allows you to problem solve in a more relaxed way. #Yoga and #Mindfulness go hand in hand, bringing harmony between the mind and the body. Schedule some mental fitness time into your calendar and begin to see the benefits. You are worth it! X
